I loved reading this book. I have not read about a Djinn before (I'm usually into reading paranormal, sci-fi and fantasy) and this one just blew me away. I'm a huge fan of smart mouthed, sassy women with witty comebacks and Glory dished out a lot of those. The story starts to pick up in the middle and there's a lot of action (in the bedroom and combat), royalty, secrets, surprise twists and much more. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series! It makes me think of an adult version of Aladdin but you're hooking up with the sexy genie. More please!

I received this ebook from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed reading it. A bit slow at the start, but then it increases pace and what a cliffhanger!
Nice characters too.

I have to start this off saying I've never read a book involving the Djinn before. I decided to give this one a go because I liked the cover and found the summary interesting.
So, the book is about Glory, who finds a pretty vase in her dead grandmother's basement and decides to take it. She twists the key, wanting to see what he vase does and lo-and-behold a Djinn pops out [ no don't call him a genie].
Irving is hot, sexy, delectable, etc. Every time Glory sees him she comments on his appearance. Is that the only reason she likes him? She doesn't comment much else on his kindness, humor, or intelligence. In fact, their whole relationship confuses me.
Glory seemed to keep calling him in order to annoy him... unless she really needs company no matter how much she dislikes him
Anyhow, it is a book where they fight and dislike each other but end up liking each other... why? I thought there needed to be more reasoning.
Glory acts her age, 19, and she is definitely a snarky person. It is a personality that works with friends but, with some people just doesn't. I couldn't connect with Glory [mostly because I kept questioning her actions] so, her personality rubbed me the wrong way instead of making me fond of her.
I would love more interaction with characters so I could understand them better. Also, getting straight to the point is nice too because there was so many times that people would try to talk circles around Glory or do long lead ups to a big secret.
WOW so many secrets... things that didn't even have to be I as blown up as they were.
So much talking, so little of anything else.
BUT, the story is still interesting. There is a lot going on and things are continuously thrown at the reader but, the series I think has a lot of potential.
Will I read the next one? Maybe but probably not. There are so many more books I find interesting or want to start I would probably never get to the sequel.

In the beginning she's calling him an asshole and that she dislikes him yet, she keeps making him stay or come back to her. If you hate him so much why do you make him come to class with you? In fact, why do that anyhow unless you want to show him off? That scene at school didn't make sense to me.Glory seemed to keep calling him in order to annoy him... unless she really needs company no matter how much she dislikes him

Irving being the Sultan...kinda? Why did she flip out??? I didn't get it when he was explaining that he wasn't the Sultan. She just chose to be dramatic and not listen. So much talking, so little of anything else.

This was a great read. Having the ability to have a genie to make three wishes and have him be sexy as hell and fall in love, just wow. When Irving brought Glory to his world because he was trying to protect her was sweet. Then to later find out her dad was a Djinn, let alone Rasputin, and then her mother thinking of killing her, I want to read the entire series. I have to know what happens next.

"Do not make me smack you, Irving Amir."
"Do not make me kiss you, Glory St. Pierre."
Wish for Me was simply fanastic! I think I had read two books about Djinn before but it wasn't until this book that I felt like yeah, I need to read more books with them (or author's need to write more with them). I was pretty sure I was going to like this book but I hadn't expected to love it this much from start to ending. Just... amazing!
This story is about Glory St. Pierre who chances upon what she thinks is a vase in the basement of her grandmother who has passed away. This is not an ordinary vase Glory discovers when she has taken it to her place. Turns out this vase is not only mechanical (so cool!) but also a genie lamp and whe accidentally summons the cynical but sexy Djinn, Irving Amir, inside.
Glory was such a fun character to read about. I truly enjoyed reading about everything she did and when Irving, a Djinn, was thrown into the mix it just kept getting better. I can't even begin to explain my love for Irving. He started out exactly how I imagined a Djinn to be — Judgmental towards humans. Irving certainly was like that, but there more going on there than just a hatred toward humans. And he's so much more than just a regular Djinn.
Without giving too much away, there are quite a few plot twists that made me gasp out loud (in public...), twists that I hadn't seen coming at all. I really like books that can surprise me like this. Another cool thing to this book is the steampunk part. There's a mechanical lamp, like I said before, and the Djinn can be summoned with turning a key in it. I just thought that was so cool. And other than that there's so many other steampunk elementas in this book, like Irvin's mechanical bat. She was just so darn cute!
Overall, Wish for Me by A. Star basically had everything I wanted — An awesome heroine, a smexy hero, djinn and magic, unexpected twists that only this author can truly shock me with and very hot romance + great writing. It was perfect!

*I’m posting this as part of the XpressoBookTours Wish For Me Blog Tour. I recieved a free ebook copy of this in order to do so.
Wish For Me is different than I thought it would be. I was expecting the whole genie/djinn part with wishes (I was looking forward to it, actually), but not the whole hunters-out-to-kill-djin and djinn-have-their-own-world-with-royalty-and-politics. It was fantastic! I wasn’t expecting there to be a whole new world full of Djinn with their own rules, rulers, and history. I haven’t read many books about Djinn, but out of the ones I have, only Wish For Me really explored the Djinn and made a world for them that we could get to know. Which is why I loved learning about Shrinelyn and Irving’s family! The politics, rules, history, and overall workings of Irving’s world was amazing.
I also love the twist near the end. I mean, hunters? Madeleine? There were so many secrets that we didn’t even know existed until that meeting between hunter and Djinn! It makes you question what else the author has waiting to be revealed. Because honestly, I never saw it coming. And yet for some reason, it made so much sense when it was finally revealed!
What I like:
-the witty banter between characters and the way the characters were developed. It made for an interesting, entertaining read most of the time. Especially since while Irving and Glory weren’t exactly fond of each other right away, they were both obviously attracted to the other.
-Irving hates humans = judgmental for good reason. It made it interesting to see how his view changed and how he acted before it did. Also, it was interesting how just being with Glory made him see not all humans are bad.
-The world-building and detail of Shrinelyn is amazing! It felt real and mixed with the creations Irving made really made it that much more intriguing and enchanting.
-Twists I did not see coming. It was great! it was one curve ball after another and I didn’t catch any of them.
-Steampunk = Irving making animals out of metal and his lamp/Chronelier being a vase needing a key to summon Irving
-Easy to read and fall into.
What I Had Problems With:
-I don’t like how it was left as a cliff hanger. It doesn’t affect much for me, but I just really dislike it when a book ends on a cliff hanger. It’s frustrating.
-I don’t get why she took him to school with her. They weren’t friends nor did they really enjoy each others company, and it’s not like he’d have much to do there. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
-I also don’t get why he give her sabers she doesn’t know how to use. Won’t that be more dangerous? She could hurt herself or Irving, since I doubt she even knows how to properly handle one.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. And while I had a few problems, there wasn’t much not to love. I recommend this to lovers of fantasy, romance, and books involving Djinn. And steampunk!

Wish For Me has such an interesting collaboration of genres that I’ve never experienced before. I haven’t read a book with a genie (*ahem* djinn, sorry) in it since I was a kid, and I’ve definitely never seen it mixed in with Steampunk! It worked surprisingly well. Whereas steampunk is all about steam powered mechanics, Djinn are about magic. Together, they make great chemistry.
The characters have their own kind of chemistry, although I admit I was skeptical at first. I mean, if a man (no matter how attractive!) shows up in my bedroom in the middle of the night, I’m going to freak out! We’re talking screaming, flailing, punching atomic meltdown. So when Glory wakes up to see a man standing over her bed, and just lays there admiring his body? Nuh uh. It’s a good thing that her snarky attitude grew on me. The witty back and forth between Glory and Irving was The Best. Ultimately, it’s what will have me coming back for more in the series.
A big part of what I love about these characters is that they are adults, but still playful. And when I say “adult”, I mean there are tattoos, leather, motorcycles, swears and explicit sex. It’s especially nice to see this kind of “fun” book written for adults, instead of masking it under a YA or NA label, and keeping it cleaner than it needs to be.
The book itself was well-written and very well edited. I did find it irksome to find unanswered questions laying about though. Like, if there was a dangling plot point, Glory would just say “I don’t want to think about it right now” and it would disappear. Problem solved? Not particularly, but if ignored long enough, we’re bound to forget about it eventually. The story followed along at a perfect pace, following a trail of plot crumbs. It pulls the reader along for the ride, and I am greatly looking forward to the next book.
A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

When I read the synopsis for Wish For Me, I was definitely intrigued. I've always been fascinated by djinn, and very rarely do I read stories about them. I will admit I'm not a huge fan of steampunk, but after finishing the story, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was, and I am definitely looking forward to the sequel.
Glory, the main character, is a bit sarcastic, but likeable. She's your typical college-age young woman...until she finds a very strange vase. Upon opening said vase, she releases a genie named Irving. And that's when things get crazy.
Irving isn't exactly a very nice guy at first. And by nice, I mean he finds Glory to be a pain in the ass, and he tends to be both attracted to her and frustrated by her.
Pros: Unique plot, likeable characters who are fleshed out, a gripping storyline that hooks you and keeps you on the edge of your seat, a love/hate relationship, and fascinating settings. Especially Irving's realm aka the place he calls home.
Cons: I was a little confused near the end when it came to a setting. I discussed it with my boyfriend, and he suggested that I was just misinterpreting what I was reading. That could be true, but I'm still a little unsure about it. I can't really think of any other cons, except that I wish book two were out now so I could read it.
I loved the twists that were thrown in throughout the book. Definitely kept me on my toes, and made me eager to fly through the book and see what direction it was going in. Wish For me is a really, really good book.
If you like magic, romance, suspense, and sarcastic humor & snark, and sexy times, then you should get yourself a copy of the book. Overall, I give it a solid 4 stars.
