The beginning was slower than I would have liked it to be but 1/4 of the way through until the end were good paced and wrapped things up nicely.

This book really held up on a reread. The stakes constantly felt high, the characters were great, the deaths meant something, cool villains, great plot twists, etc, etc. This book was a great capstone to the series!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rereading this, it's obvious how much the orantium thing is built up. There are a lot of times people are like "if only we had a huuuge amount of orantium" and whatnot. We also see the Maumet (which I think is awesome btw I love that fight) do a ~big explosion~ and stuff like that. Not that the mountain location was foreshadowed, but the power of orantium and how much of a role it had to play was.
LOVED Nedwin's last chapter - I forgot that plot twist and I loved it.
Rachel dealing with the torivors & Maldor is a great scene too, that girl could've killed Maldor on her own (w/ the torivors), orantium or no orantium. Anyway, I loved this book and this series. It's full of great characters and worldbuilding.
Best: How I as a reader really felt the deaths ( AND ALSO FERRIN NOW THAT I REMEMBERED)
Worst: There's quite a lot of Rachel going "hmm is the prophecy real or isn't it we're all doomed oh noooo" Fortunately, at the end she does something finally and it's really cool.
AAHHHH I FORGOT ABOUT FERRIN AT THE END I LOVED THAT SCENE AND THAT SPEECH SO MUCH THAT WHOLE SCENE WAS AMAZING

A creative series, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first two books more recently. He tied up lots of loose ends without being too repetitious, which I appreciated, but since the earlier books weren't fresh in my mind I struggled to sort it all out at times. I was satisfied with the ending, even though it wasn't happily ever after for everyone.

I definitely enjoyed this series and I like Brandon Mull’s writing and world building. I still think Fablehaven/Dragonwatch is a much stronger series (and that’s probably why there are so many more books). But Beyonders was exciting and full of good characters! Without any spoilers I’d just say the ending was a bit unsatisfying. It just leaves it a bit open ended for our main heroes and I would’ve liked to feel a more definitive happy ending. Nevertheless still total worth reading!
