I really enjoy Fannie Flagg's novels. This was so sweet and the characters really reminiscent of the people where I live (not surprising since her AL home is about 30 miles from my city).

This is a feel-good novel, but has a little twist, just to give it some depth.

I also liked the way Ms. Flagg novel goes between the different characters' viewpoints. It really livens up the story.

Read this book recommended for book groups wanting a humorous book - and it is humorous. I enjoy Fannie Flagg: humorous, quirky characters with warm hearts and a sense of family and community.

2nd time I've read this book... and I love the "live today like there is no tomorrow" concept. Elner Shimfissle is my hero!

I enjoyed fried green tomatoes so I thought I would try another book by this author. This one was a little too small town, bubble gum, golly gee for my liking. Exaggerated characters etc. I thought it was just ok.

For the first time since August 2022, I devoured a book in one day! A friend suggested it to me when I asked for book suggestions back around New Year's.

"Can't Wait to Get to Heaven" did not disappoint!! It was fun, a little crazy, thought provoking and I could not put it down! I realized after I finished reading that it is Book 3 in a series of 4. I have requested Books 1, 2 & 4 from my library.

When Elner Shimfissle is stung to death by wasps, her death affects all the people in her life, and they reflect on their lives and relationships with Elner. Meanwhile, Elner is learning a bit about the afterlife, which is not quite what she expected. I enjoyed this book and laughed aloud several times while reaidng it, but ultimately there were some awkward parts, and the ending was a bit unsatisfying.

Such fun, just the humorous distraction I needed. And hey, a main character has my name!

3.5 stars. I started this audio book on the way to Virginia with my cousin Linda. Because we were talking and watching the road, we did not get very far, so I finished it on my own. I love the folks of Elmwood Springs, especially Elner. I could listen to their activities all day long, but Can't Wait to Get to Heaven also had some mystery. What was Elner doing with a gun in her laundry basket? The gun is found when a neighbor is straightening Elner's house while she is in the hospital having a near-death-experience. The story has some religion, some common sense and a (mostly) happy ending.

The only downside to the audio book is not having copies of the recipes which are, unexpectedly, included at the end.
