Cute cozy. I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first in the series. The recipes for donuts are a little strange though. I mean, does anyone really make their own donuts at home? The major problem with this series is that I find myself compelled to buy donuts! Thank goodness I don't have the next one in the series yet! LOL

A very good and fast paced read. The only real problem I had about this book was that the murder weapon (poison) will not kill you that quickly. Mouse and rat poison can take up to 7 days to work and that's if they get enough of a dose. Judging by how much Peg ate, it should have just made her sick. Other than that, it was a good mystery that allowed you to piece together the suspects yourself as the novel gives you hints. I can't wait to read the next one!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, Glazed Murder, and was so enthused to start reading the second book, Fatally Frosted.

This time it is Suzanne that is framed for murder, when Peg Masterton eats one of her donuts and dies!

Fatally Frosted was a enjoyable read, as Suzanne tries to discover who the murderer is, with the help of her friends Grace and George. However her love interest, Jake, is caught up in the investigation and unable to help, so its up to them to solve it themselves.

I really like the setting for these books, and I will definitely be picking up the next one in the series. Fatally Frosted introduces a couple of new minor characters and I can't wait to see what the writer has in store for them!

Definitely recommended for fans of cozy mysteries, but be warned it will have you craving donuts with all the delicious recipes!

Okay, first off: People on this site really need to step up their spoiler tag use. Someone literally names the killer in their review, no tags!!! đŸ˜”

Now, on to the book. Bleh.

“Jessica Beck” is the pen name of a dude named Tim Myers. This explains why so many of the female characters are weight-obsessed, mean-spirited, man-mad dimwits.

The book has so many small but hugely annoying inconsistencies, including:
  • Someone the main character calls knows who’s calling before the MC IDs herself! What is this witchcraft? A needlessly long explanation of personalized ringtones ensues. In the next chapter, we see the MC check her caller ID—meaning she should already be well aware of how you’d know who’s calling before they ID themselves.
  • The MC decides she’ll  talk to the victim’s neighbors after she’s had a night’s sleep. One page later, as she’s falling asleep, she “suddenly remembers” that she forgot to talk to the victim’s neighbors.
  • Frank’s son Martin said, “Dad, this isn’t exactly what we had planned for today.” [Frank] put an arm around his son. “Thomas, sometimes the world laughs at our plans.” ‘Nuff said.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a dozen times: I know cozies aren’t “great literature.” But is it too much to ask that they have protagonists I can give half a crap about and that they’ve gone through a competent copyediting process?

Bought the book because it had acute cover then felt obligated to read it. What a cliche!

Absolutely delicious! This mystery was fun and light hearted. I am in love with this little town that Jessica created, I even do venture to say that this book is even better than the first. Here we are introduced to the higher society of the town that Suzanne lives in, which is being headed by the town jerk who is just waiting for our new favorite detective slash baker to fail. Within the first couple chapters someone is murdered and all of the blame is being placed on Suzanne, and her love life is going through the ringer too. Her ex husband dropping by trying to win her back all the while a handsome stranger keeps showing up when she least expects it.
