While I can clearly see the talent and the efforts to push back against the establishment of the day.....

This is not really my cup of tea. 
Did I like any poem in here? yes, just one. Did I still find lines throughout that I underlined because of their relevance or how much I was like oh shiiiit? yep. 

But overall I think that a) beat poetry might not be my thing 
and b) it felt like the whole time the poet was scribbling away in a railcar, thinking, yes yesssss this will be edgy......this will show them how smart I am. 

forgive me, if thats not the case but thats largely how this felt. Which is a shame because I can tell he cared about what he was trying to get across....he was ...raging against the machine in a way. 
But it got a little too like our modern edgelord writing in there for a bit.

I love poetry.  A lot of the time, there is a poem or a line within, here or there, which hits me hard.

But its been a bit since I've felt SEEN by poetry. If that makes any sense. 

I cried. A lot.

Damn.

This was such a weird book. Part fiction, part....memoir maybe? Damn. 
Some parts are a bit outdated, but some......it's hard to believe it's still relevant now....it HURTS that it's relevant now. 
I dunno. I love Vonnegut, maybe more
