This book was really not very good but my 14 year old self would have eaten it up so it gets an honorary 3 star on those grounds

I have mixed feelings on this one. It was overall sweet and low stress but with just enough mystery to keep it interesting, and it checked a lot of my cozy comfort read boxes, so that's a plus. BUT it also utilizes my very least favorite trope: all of these people's problems could be solved with one frank 5-10 minute conversation.
When you're thinking "okay finally, this should get everyone on the same page and begin to wrap things up" and then a character suddenly goes "nope!" and does something batshit insane, it smacks of the author realizing they need to hit a certain amount more pages and realizing they're not going to make it.
I did like this one overall and found the writing good and engaging, so if you're a person who doesn't mind misunderstanding tropes, you will probably love it.

The plot in this book is really hanging on by a thread and hinges on the fact that none of these people know how to be remotely normal
Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier
Did not finish book. Stopped at 23%.

I've really liked some of Tracy Chevalier's other work, but I just could not get into this one. Maybe I'll try again at some point and it will hit differently, but it's not for me right now.
