It was a rocky start, but I ended up loving this book and really looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I am officially invested in all of these characters’ lives.

fucking hell this was cute. I loved having the perspective of someone with Lupus (not sure if this is an Own Voices story or not, I’ll have to double check that) and Theo and Ellie together were so perfect 🥹 I do hate her mom and her brother though idc

I also really enjoyed the mix of Christmas and Hanukkah and birthday traditions 😭 the snow globes and the penguins UGH I cry

it did turn me off a tinyyyyy itty bitty bit that they mentioned the Briar U series by Elle Kennedy in the book since that series/author is notoriously lesbophobic — but what can ya do

ALSO the author goes back and forth between present and past which is totally fine and I loved that… but the first two spicy scenes were when Ellie was a teenager. I do not want to hear about teens having sex in explicit detail, personally. We all know teens have sex, but I don’t think it should be described in books the same way we would for adult smut.

WOW. This was incredible. Beyond that. I don’t think I can put into words how much I loved this, and I don’t know what to do with myself until I start Bloodmarked. Just wow.

Wow. This was a short poetry collection but it truly packed a punch. What a beautiful and tragic story of a girl who had to hide her true self from her cult and who eventually escaped. Truly beautiful.

I am gnawing at the bars of my enclosure for Koa Mahina. I read this book before the first two in the series but I am desperate to read the first two now. The way Ginger writes is ADDICTING. The amount of highlights I have throughout this book is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot wait to jump back in to the Newhouse series!

Thank you to Ginger and the Luna Literary Management team for the ARC of this book!

Dammit I sobbed. Daisy and Rafferty were meant to be together, and Cal was meant to have both of them as parents. This entire story made my heart so happy. Cal is such a meddling little shit. I cannot express how much I loved this childhood friends to strangers to lovers romance. Anna, thank you for letting me sit under the stars with Daisy, Raff, Cal, and Boots. ❤️

How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi

informative
I feel weird rating this, so I’m not going to. This was extremely informative and helped me better understand the differences between racism, racist, and antiracist.

I think this is important for everyone to read, as Ibram states that we all have biases that are engrained into us from an early age due to systemic racism.

I also thought the metaphor of racism being just like cancer was helpful in my understanding of it. It started with some little cells and rapidly grew from there.

I’d also like to note that I have had the physical book since it came out in 2019, but I find it easier to digest nonfiction books through audio, so I chose that format. The audio is slightly different from the 2019 hardcover, and the author discusses the changes he made throughout the book in the audio. He explains that he is always continuing to learn and grow, so some descriptions or wording was changed based on his new knowledge and changing of his biases.
