I had a hard time with Larkin. I didn’t love her character or her obsession with claiming to be second place to Earthseed.
AndMarc straight up sucks.

I wasn’t planning on continuing with this series, but the ending makes me mad. I wanna know what’s next.

This was an incredibly challenging story, and for a plethora of reasons.
As others have mentioned, books about race can be sticky from white people. As a white person myself, I think it was addressed realistically and empathetically, but it’s still a deeply sensitive and personal experience for poc, especially black people in the context of this novel.
Listening to the pov of a white supremacist was remarkably unsettling. It was gross and scary and deplorable. How “Christians” can claim they follow Jesus when they follow none of his teachings while hating brown people, of which Jesus was one, will never cease to appall me.
As the book progressed,Brit’s prejudices and racism became more and more pronounced, and the ending she got was disappointing. That someone could hate themselves so much for baseless stereotypes and ignorance is disheartening.
Additionally, I took a few days to read this book. Yesterday was an important day for two drastically different reasons: MLK and Coretta Scott King day and drumpf’s inauguration. A vulgar juxtaposition and honestly a slap in the face.
I’m glad I read it, but I will not be reading this again.

This was really fun! The characters were silly and the plot was adventurous! Dr. Siri is quite the entertainment.
