Honestly, a very good read! This book kept surprising me and I never knew what was going to happen or be revealed next! A very cool take on a cryptid horror! The book leaves a lot unanswered and unclear but in a good way that doesn’t feel unsatisfying.

Solid read! Not bad at all but not particularly exciting per se. I liked where the story went and overall enjoyed the book. Just didn’t really stand out to me in any way.

A solid read! There are some aspects that I wish had been better and more developed, but I don’t think they took away from the book or my enjoyment. A good classic horror story that really scratched my itch for something more classic, but still engaging and new. I’m looking forward to reading more from the author!

I actually really enjoyed the book and thought it had a lot of good qualities! The premise is really cool! The small twist of the island and blackmailer being supernatural was cool! And the ending was actually quite emotional. I do feel, however, that there were a lot of characters that didn’t get to be as fleshed out, many of the secrets were disappointing after so much build up, and the ending/fates of the last 6 characters felt rushed and unsatisfactory. The book also starts a little slow and I, personally, would have liked (and was hoping for) a different ending than what was written. Even with that, I enjoyed the read and was engaged with the last half of the book or so. I would definitely put this book in the middle with 3 stars, a fine read and really not bad, but not quite living up to expectations/hope! I probably will read something else from this author though because I do really like how they write!
