Beautiful. I love this take on Snow White as well. 

I loved the characters and the pacing. The author did very well at calling attention to multiple narratives and explored their stories equitably. I like that the characters had shadow lives and made choices in their past and present that may not have been the best points of their lives, but the book didn't wholly rely on that as their personalities. Quite refreshing. I also really love the way the book made me feel. Not overwhelmingly sad. 

I'm an Ohioan and didn't like about Emma Gatewood. What a feat! It's also beautifully illustrated. Recommend for kids and adults alike.
