The Rake OR The Orca Who Met His Match in a Selkie Desiring Revenge by Kass O'Shire
emotional
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Strong character development? Yes
- Loveable characters? Yes
5.0
My first Kass O’Shire book and it will not be my last.
This was the cutest spicy monster romance book I swear. I absolutely adored Aegir and Elspeth. The spicy scenes were hot, but the scenes with Elspeth’s flashbacks and issues stemming from her captivity were so well done. I know what it is like to have those and I felt for Elspeth so much. I loved that O’Shire gave Elspeth and Aegir a happy ending with each other, but she didn’t make Elspeth’s touch aversion and other issues just disappear because of that happy ending. It was realistic while also keeping true to a romance novel.
This was such a good book, so well written. I absolutely loved the author’s addition of footnotes, that was just the icing on the cake.
I also received a copy of this book as an ARC, in addition to purchasing a copy once it was released. This book was worth my money.

There's Something About Dragons: A Cozy Monster Rom Com by Sara Ivy Hill
3.5
First, I like Sara Ivy Hill. Her books are hit and miss with me, but I don’t mind reading them even if they aren’t my cup of tea. I got an e-ARC of this book for being subscribed to Hill’s Patreon.
I did enjoy the book; it was a fun little escape from reality. I did feel the plot line fell a little flat for me, and the "conflict" was a little annoying. I enjoyed the spicy scenes (love a two peen guy). They were great and hot (minus the foot thing, not my cup of tea). The storyline itself I didn’t care for. I know this is like a little spoof for There’s Something About Mary, but I didn’t care for that movie so I’m not surprised I didn’t care for the plot line.
Overall I was invest in Cari and Zed's relationship and how they would end up, and the issues I had with the things I mentioned previous did not detract from my enjoyment of this book. I’d recommend it if you like dragons, fated mates, two peens, and cute animals

When I Was Your Age: Life Lessons, Funny Stories and Questionable Parenting Advice from a Professional Clown by Kenan Thompson
5.0
I liked Kenan back during All That and Kenan and Kel. So I decided to pick up his memoir when I saw it on Libby. It wasn't bad; I listened to the audiobook and I enjoyed it being read by Kenan. I didn't realize how very clean and kind of oblivious Kenan Thompson seems to be. I enjoyed his memoir, enjoyed the humor he wrote with and narrated with, but I was glad when it finally came to an end.

Thorn by Vera Foxx
lighthearted
3.5
I’m conflicted…I liked it, I really did it. But I felt like it just went on a little too long. I did like the story, and I liked Ellie and Thorn. I liked that is was such a cute little rom-com in monster form. But quite often in the book I found myself thinking it was the end and then it wasn’t it and it felt like it dragged on.
