I knew the book would be good, I didn't know it would be GREAT. I find sometimes that reading other series' by authors can be disappointing as the tone changes and the characters aren't the same but having read and loved Red Queen, I can say this book exceeded my expectations.

It is truly everything I loved about Lord of the Rings as a child with the PERFECT addition of a Guardians of the Galaxy type cast. I was hooked from the very beginning and found myself gasping in horror and salivating for the next chapter at parts.

I'm thrilled this is my first read of 2025 and already have blade breaker beside me to delve back in.

As always Ms. Silver is a visionary. This book was everything you want and need in a romance.

But also she commissioned musicians to actually make songs??? Like recorded them??? And you can listen to them sing as you read about the performance?

Emily Henry perfectly incarnated the two sides of my psyche. To be a hopeful romantic and a learned cynistic, always wishing but never believing. This book was a beauty of romance and human affliction.

This book tore me apart in the best way.

I knew it was a story following four generations of the same family as they make their way through life but I didn't intend to feel like a member of the family. Min Jin Lee's writing pulls you in and keeps you there to stay.

You might be whiter than the snow, ie me, but you'll feel a kinship with these Koreans and their struggles from work to family to the colonization to beauty to self-hatred.

I was invested from Hoonie. I swore with them. I cried with them. I feel like I grew with them to an extent.

Now I will never read another contemporary fiction a) because I'm not sure one can compare to this and b) it hurts too much 😭😭😭😭

I FREAKING KNEW THAT NOA WAS GOING TO BE THE ONE WHO DIED/BROKE THE FAMILY LINE AND THAT MOZASU WAS GONNA HOLD IT TOGETHER BUT BRO WTF WAS NOA OFFING HIMSELF AND THEN THAT ENDING?!?! I'm distraught

NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP.
ESSENTIALLY DR. SPENCER REID WITH THE SOFTEST MOST PRECIOUS HEART.
I'm actually scared to read her other books because this one has set the bar remarkably high.
