can’t stop thinking about when one of the characters “ran her tongue over the sensitive roof of (other character’s) mouth” …. now how did you get all up in there like that
i was HOOKED by this book!! it was so fast-paced and had me wanting to keep reading, no matter how late it was. also, some things made me physically cringe (see: body horror), which almost never happens when reading so... slay
This book- especially the audiobook- felt like listening to Salomé just talking to you, telling you about her day, her past, her experiences as a Black girl in the netherlands & in juvenile detention. the story jumps back and forth throughout time, but i think listening to it helped with that--it was like the main character was telling you a story.
mon premier audiobook en français ! et oui, je l’ai compris ! j’avais écouté Kukum en anglais l’année dernière, et je pense que ça a aidé avec mon compréhension de ce livre. J’aime l’histoire de la famille Innu de Michel Jean.
I love some of these characters so much, and can’t stand some of these characters just as much. Fredrik Backman writes the best character studies (even when a lot is going on, his books are still character studies) and make you feel like you know these people, even if they exist in a fictional town in a forest in a country thousands of miles away.
