Overall, I was super disappointed in this read, especially because of all of the hype that surrounded the book as it was first released in January. I picked this read as my January Book Of The Month book for my subscription box. I was so excited as I was on vacation at the time, enjoying the tropical Caribbean life! I thought it was perfect timing for such a read, but was extremely let down. There was so much unnecessary world/plot building, unintriguing back stories, and hardly any thrill. I’m disappointed in this book as a “thriller” because it was 2/3 of so slow and then the last 100 carried all of the action. In my opinion, it felt so rushed and just not good. With a thriller, I expect to be on my seat and nervous sweating, but I was more just looking for this book to end. The ending felt thrown together, and the twists and “excitement” was very underwhelming. If I didn’t have to read it for Book Club, this book would have been a DNF for me. Also wouldn’t recommend to others looking for a good thriller book.
