Cute, fast paced fake-dating, friends to lovers rom com with a LOT of spice. But the miscommunication trope is NOT one of my favorites. I kept wanting to shake the two main characters and yell "JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER!"
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I think maybe I read this book at the wrong time. It took me SO LONG to get into it. And I actually started it and put it down a bunch of times over a couple of months before finally committing to it. I did finally come around in the end and I'd say the last 25% of the book totally engrossed me, but since i had such a hard time starting it, I'll keep it at 3 stars.
Set in the early 1960s, Behind Every Good Man follows a newly divorced mom of 2 try to navigate life post break-up. It's a fast read, full of a well-rounded cast of characters who all feel fully realized. I was astounded at how quickly I got sucked into this one and I just enjoyed the heck out of it.
This book just wasn't for me. I felt like Pooley was trying to create a cast of quirky cast of eldery characters who aren't quite what they seemed. Unfortunately, Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club series already exists and he did it brilliantly. It made the characters in How to Age Disgracefully feel incredibly flat. And with an extremely slow plot, and flat characters, I really had to force myself to not DNF it.
