In love and obsessed doesn't begin to cover it. I think this is one of my favourite books by Ali so far. I adored and was grinning through just about every interaction between Lukas and Scarlet, the tension, the passion and overall story for me was a lot of fun.
I expected a tiny bit more drama to happen - but maybe that's the over catastrophising anxiety we made along the way - I'm certain this will be one of fave new releases for 2025 and will be on my reread list for a long time.

I can see why there have been lots of mixed reviews for Onyx Storm. But based on vibes alone, which is how i judge the majority of my reads, I really enjoyed it. Yes, elements could have been taken out to make the story more concise, it did feel like there was a lot of fluff and filler at times with lots of fact dangling that either would have been best left unsaid and rounded out to its full extent rather than leaving a trail with no follow through especially towards the end of the book, I get it leaves us wanting more but I don't like to fall into the theorising spirals.

Overall I had a fun time! I laughed, I teared up and had so many emotions along the way. I hate that we're left on another cliffhanger but hate it in a way that I kind of love as I need the next one immediately. I have some small predictions about where it'll go next, I almost wish there wasn't the pressure of it being a potential 5 book series as it feels like a lot more could have been achieved so far without being drawn out ... but i like the characters, love the dragons, and I'm here for the rest of the journey so far.

I had high hopes going into this one, knowing I've really enjoyed LL's Succubus and Demonic Messes series but for some reason I really struggled to connect and get into the flow of the writing of the story and the characters. The ending helps a little and I'm intrigued enough to read book 2 for the continuation of Chloes story ... but I'm cautious and hoping the depth of the plot and characters is better explored going forward.
