Every new book by Emily St. John Mandel leaves me even more shaken, lonely, hopeful, heartbroken, happy, cynical, in love with life, confused and clear of mind and in awe than the last. If you want to read a book that's pulling the floor out under your feet and at the same time gives you a friendly hug of someone you haven't seen in a while but missed dearly, this is right for you.

a chilling, touching queer love story revolving around the ocean and its depths, sad yet hopeful in every possible way. i loved it a lot & devoured it, probably because i love me a good "came back wrong" story. it was worth underlining a lot of passages because it's written so beautifully, curt and efficient and "reduced/minimalistic". can recommend! <3

i got this book today as a treat and i finished it in less than 4 hours. poetic space-time anomalies and sci-fi blended perfectly with current affairs. the writing style is so gentle, easy, effortless, soothing; even complex twists & concepts are made clear & easily understood. it hit the spot perfectly i'm in awe.
