I liked this book. Not initially, I hated  the first 100 pages because of the EXPLICIT descriptions of sex but I enjoyed the character. The story of the Gold siblings makes you think about if you want to live or survive and how much time we really have to do it. Each sibling has their own story to tell that each give a different lesson in a different time period that makes them feel real. There were some character decisions that I thought were a little quick but it adds to the story in the moment. There is a character for everyone to have some relation to. Each character is so strong in their passions and it’s genuinely interesting to see how each of the siblings go about their lives and the time they have left.

I enjoyed reading it. It started out fast, slowed once you hit WW1, then gains speed after that. Zebulon has an interesting way of telling his own story that keeps you engaged, until he is bored; then you’re bored. The secondary characters add a lot to this book and you’ll find yourself hating most of them but all of them are in-depth and have unique interactions with Zebulon that make them memorable, even if they only show up for a couple pages. With that, its very much a who’s-who of history and that’s the only way you can figure out what year it is. And when first reading this, I thought Zebulon was a self-insert (and still think he is to an extent). Nonetheless, I’m excited to read the second book and see what happens to Zebulon next.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

It was very confusing to read with the framing device and as soon as you got used to it, it changed. Emily Bronte has a unique writing style where she describes too much and also not enough. There’s too many characters to keep track of, and it doesn’t help that some of them share names.
The plot is honestly pretty lackluster. Complicated love triangle that turns into a grudge revenge fantasy and it happens too quick to be believable. I can see why others would love this book, but it’s just not for me.
