I first read this book about three months ago during the university Russian literature course. Being a short story, it contains a lot of wisdom, witty parts and subtle psychological power. This work is just another evidence of Pushkin't great talent.

The book hasn't made the impression I was waiting for. I'm very much into war-period books telling about the lives of ordinary people. Even though the idea itself and the plot structure seem brilliant, I found "The Reader" a bit boring to my greatest discontent, the film hasn't impressed me either.

It was a tough read indeed. Poor people had to go through all this hell on earth. However, such books help us open wider our eyes and minds on what was happening in the world and teach us appreciate our lives, family relations, friends and the chance of living merrily without this goddam WAR....

Очень грустная история, которая на протяжении часов чтения вызывала у меня в основном гнетущее состояние. Однако, в этой небольшой истории есть много пищи для размышления, фраз и мыслей, которые до сих пор актуальны и по сей день.
Don Quixote de La Mancha - Vol II by Miguel de Cervantes

I've finished with the first volume of Don Quixote De La Mancha and found this book quite easy and interesting to read. It's the classic adventure of a madman: the "renowned Don Quixote de la Mancha." He attacks windmills, believes a peasant girl to be a lady, and fancies that he is a knight-errant, dedicated to righting wrongs and rescuing damsels in distress. To my mind, Don Quixote is one of the greatest protagonists of the world literature ever. So I hope that the second volume is just as good as the first one...

This book had nothing tense in it at all, which is quite a shame, because the most important thing you expect from a thriller is for it to be "tense". Unfortunately, this book didn't provide neither suspense nor that incredible edgy feeling that one gets while reading a good mistery novel or a thriller. Nonetheless, I liked the narration,it went pretty smoothly.
