This is a great continuation of the first volume. I was really happy to see Li Yu and Mu Tianchi be romantic with each other. The court drama is also really easy to follow compared to other books with similar situations. I can't wait to read what is next.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I had heard a lot of good things about this danmei online but I still wasn't too sure what to expect. However, after reading, I can say i loved it! It was super funny and the fish shenanigans had me hooked. Primce Jing and Li Yu also were super cute and I wish having a pet fish was actually like this. I can't wait to read the next volume and see what happens next.
It amazes me that lesbians in China in the 1920s can feel so familiar to me a lesbian in the United States in the 2020s. I can only hope at the end of this story Yingman found Yunluo and whisked her away to live alone together happily even if it was only for a little while longer. May Romeo always have ger Juliet wrapped in her arms. This story reminds me that even 100 years ago the moon shone upon lesbians with her soft light. This was a lovely read. I very much enjoyed it even if it broke my heart a little.
Where do I even start? I went into reading this only knowing some strange spoilers that sounded so crazy out of context you wouldn't believe they are real and a few content warnings. I came out of it with tear stained cheeks and a new found love for rou bao bu chi rou's writing. Watching Mo Ran and Chu Wanning grow as character's was lovely and so was watching their relationship blossom. I live for toxic bl. The plot also constantly kept me on my toes. For all the times I happened to guess what was coming next there was also times I was completely suprosed by what came next. All of the side characters were also lovely and had so many beautiful moments. That being said this book is NOT for the weak. I cried every few chapters and many chapters had me feeling like the author ripped out my heart and stomped on it before ripping it to shreds. If possible I recommend finding a buddy to read this with so you can share the pain. I cant wait to read more of the author's work as erha has set the bar incredibly high.
Overall, this was a nice read. The artstyle was stunning, characters were insanely lovable and the plot was interesting. I really loved how unlike most omegaverse the main pairing consisted of two alphas. The concept of the smyrna and capri was also an interesting addition. I do however wish it was longer. I loved the way the main couples relationship developed but i would have loved a little more focus on the world the characters inhabit. I also feel as though the major battle near the end happened too quickly. There was not enough time to fully feel the gravity of what was happening. So, when Seth fully became a dragon and could have died it did not have as big of an emotional impact as I would have liked.
