i like the fuck you of it all. some of the analysis excited me when i read it as metaphorical, but i think he didn't mean it metaphorically and that kind of scares me. but also it's good to be scared. idk i need a reading group

i'm excited to read cruising utopia to see if munoz can tell me what i think about edelman. i just need someone else to clarify to me why i feel not great about some of this stuff

the person who reviewed this as essentially a "fuck you" to autobiography of red is actually just so so so unbelievably wrong i kind of can't believe that you could read this collection and take THAT from it. just because it's like a little more left field. a GORGEOUS companion piece to AoR, stands alone really well but holds some real beautiful mirrors up to its forebear if you're looking for that. its placement between AoR and H of H, when taken into consideration, makes it BRUTAL. some of her best work in this collection imo. gave me a nicotine rush just reading it.
