This was the perfect book for me right now. It was light and friendly and filled with sunshine. A holiday in the hills of Italy, with great food and new friends was just the escape I needed!
I felt like I was being welcomed by Emma and Mark along with the other guests. It was nice to “get to know” the characters through their actions, and interactions with one another. I never felt that the characterization was forced.
The descriptions of Todi and the surrounding villages had me researching the area. It seems beautiful. Although I may have to side with Grace and Heike that the hills would be a bit much for me.
Unfortunately I did not warm up to all the characters. I know that Madison tried to redeem herself, and was headed in the right direction. However, I could not let go of her treatment of the others in the beginning. Sorry Madison!

While Gwen and Caleb are definitely the couple of the day - it was Dean who stole my heart. His grumpy nature and distanced attitude didn’t fool me (ok, maybe in the beginning) and I felt that he brought all of the characters together nicely.
I loved the friendships and the support. It made me feel part of the gang. Dymond brings her characters emotions right off the page.
I would have liked more, a little more drama with the fame, a little more angst with Jenny and Dean, a little more wedding. This book was definitely enough, yet I still wanted more. Maybe another follow up?

While I am a romance junkie at heart, MM romance is relatively new to me. It’s books like this that will keep me coming back! The emotions oozed off of the pages, even when there were struggles and roadblocks.
This story is so much more than a love story though.
When the boys end up at the clinic they have to relearn who they are and what is important to them. Secrets and struggles get in the way, bit with a little help they rediscover who they are, and grow into who they are meant to be.
The sci-fi elements take it to a whole different level. It is interesting to me how den Dekker was able to address so many current day issues. It’s troubling to see that even I. This advanced world that has been created racism, discrimination, bullying and other horrible issues still run rampant. It was however, heartwarming to see so many fight against this. I guess I took it as a statement that while we still have a ways to go, there will always be people trying to make the world a better place.
I read this quite some time ago, and it still lingers in the back of my mind. It’s like remembering something or someone whom you miss, but they still make you smile!

This was definitely an emotional ride! I didn’t know whether to laugh and cry, or scream and rant - so naturally I did them all.
Jane made you feel so much, even while she continued to try not to feel at all. It was both heart-wrenching and heart-warming to watch her navigate her life and make it the best she possibly could, while protecting those around her. I just wanted to wrap her in a warm hug and hide her away from everything for a little while.
While the events were difficult (emotional and physical abuse) to read, Weisner somehow created a positive and hopeful space. The fact that Jane and Scarlett are survivors was threaded throughout so one never stopped hoping.

Andie needs money to keep her wedding dress business afloat. Kit wants to make his mom happy because she is so ill. As a result, old college flings end up matched together in a reality show that has them marrying sight unseen. We start off with a lot of emotions, and we know there will be bumps along the way. Ingrid Pierce draws us in to the drama quickly, and has us invested until the end. Andie struggles with trusting those around her, because everyone always leaves. These feeling are brought to life in a realistic way as we discover her history alongside Kit. We also feel her frustration with Kit as Pierce reveals his history at a snails pace (which totally makes sense in the end).
I do enjoy reality tv at times, and liked how this was presented. It would totally invade every aspect of you life! I was a little confused, however, by the fact that the way to collect the winnings was by having the marriage fail. There didn’t seem to be a prize for them if they stayed together. I thought the reward would come if they made it work

Phoenix Rising: Initiation: The Trybrid Chronicles by Rebecca Ann Nagy
Wow! So much happened in this book! At times I will admit the number of characters were a bit difficult to follow , however I am left wanting to know more about them. Past lives are twining with the present, and secrets that have long been kept secret will return to influence the present. Cassandra Oberon will be instrumental in the changes to come. However first she must learn who she truly is. The past and present will continue to collide as she earns her place as the seventh Aquarian Avatar.
While I really enjoyed this YA fantasy, I feel that I will not be able to write an accurate review until I finish the entire series. It is off to a great start, and I am totally invested. I’m just not sure I have any idea which way it will turn next. There are so many possibilities…

Evie's Haven by Lisa Plaice
3.75
Small-town romance, witty banter and a mature leading lady made this a book I couldn’t wait to read. I loved that Evie was a confident, determined single mother who was basically happy with where she was in her life, but was open to change and a little bit more. Ryan, the handsome contractor who had a rough go with love but just may be willing to take another chance with the right person, just rounded out the storyline perfectly.
The supporting characters were amazing! Lots of laughs, lots of love and a whole lot of “I can relate” made this a book I whipped right through. I get the fear Evie had about Sara leaving for school. I get the excitement Sara had for the same thing. I get the hesitation about starting a new relationship, but wanting to do it anyway for both Evie and Ryan. So many things going on that I felt happens here in my small town too. What a fun experience.
