I liked this book more than the first for a few reasons. First, April was in it less. Man did I hate April in book 1. Second, April got better. By the end of the book I actually kind of liked her. I felt her character development was natural and well-done. Comparisons between the books aside, this story was exciting and scary and feels applicable to today. I really enjoyed getting to know the side characters better and hear their perspectives. Especially Miranda. The author’s ideology is clear as you read, and it is equally clear how smart, thoughtful, and insightful he is. It was both heartbreaking and hopeful to read this story which clearly comes from his reflections on the real world.
Side note: the audiobook production was exceptional
