Ariadne by Jennifer Saint

Here’s why I don’t think this is a good feminist retelling. While Ariadne was placed at the center of the book, and given much more character development than in her original story, she was still completely and totally at the mercy of men. She had no real autonomy. This book just continued to show how men ruled her fate. She wasn’t given power over her own life in the end. Additionally, every male in this story was a monster. The one decent guy was killed off. I just don’t think this was a very productive or progressive take.
On a separate note, I found it to be overwritten. Every other sentence was a metaphor.
