While I would not quite hype the book as some reviews and blurbs have done (as if it were the second coming of Tolkien or something), this story is a fun, engaging read, with lots of adventure and action, and solid character development that sets the stage for other books. I liked the opening sections and the end sections the best, and look forward to the next installment.

I love his IQ books but this one felt too convoluted for me.
