Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I got this book as an ARC from NetGalley by author T.E. Kinsey. It is a very slow read, but also pretty good! It's definitely not my regular read, and so it took me a while to get through it, but I did find it to be very easy to read once I got going. I did get confused at the start because this is the 11th book in the series, and I jumped in here, and it definitely builds off of all the other books prior. Given that it is such a slow read for ME, I don't know if I'll read the start of them, but I did enjoy the book! It's a historical story about two women who are detectives in the special services branch of England, and so I had a British accent in my head the whole entire time I was reading it. π Well written, and so glad I read on my Kindle, so I could look up all the terms that were used.
This was a nice quick listen while I was in the car, driving around to just run errands. I think I finished it while I was sitting at my desk since it is almost 2 hours long. But it was a nice cute little holiday story, enemies to lovers who don't know their writing to each other and second chances. The girl moves back to her home town and the ex-boyfriend had messed up the first time around and wanted a second chance!
This book was great until about 60% through, then it got WAY too graphic with the romance scenes and descriptions of certain jobsβ¦ a little TOO much for me! π Listening to it as an audiobook didn't help matters & I think I would've preferred it as an actual book instead. The narration was good, but the male narrator's impression of a female character voiceβ¦ π¬ I definitely said "oh no no no" more than once! π 4 stars is generous, but I'll give it to the author as the plot of the story was extremely well written. I knew this was out of my comfort zone and it firmly reminded me that I am not a fan of the words "good girl" or "daddy" along with all the other graphic images that are now seared on my brain π
Not sure if I'll read more of her books, but this was my first cowboy romance. #Romance #Audiobook #Cowboy #Review #ChasingTheWild
When I originally picked up this book, I expected it to be sweet and wholesome, a typical small-town romance. π Little did I know... π² I was not prepared for the unexpectedly steamy content! π₯ After reading the first particularly passionate scene, I even said aloud, "Well, okay then! π³ That's what we're doing right there in the kitchen!" π€£ This book was full of surprises and has me wanting to read the entire series! π I'm definitely going to read the first book in the series, then reread this one, before moving on to her other books (when they're published). I can't wait! π I especially enjoyed the fake relationship trope and the cute touch of the clue hunt.
This was a great read about two women who started off with a disastrous first date but then, when the brother of Darcy pushes her about wanting to know about the date, she lies and says it was amazing. And thus, the fake relationship trope takes place. Darcy and Elle dance the line of the fake relationship as both start falling in love with one another. Both just as startled of falling in love as the next, and the storyline is a somewhat slow burn. Of course, there is the heartbreak near the end but the inevitable reconciliation. I love this authorβs writing style, and it kept me turning the pages! ππ #Romance #FakeRelationship #SlowBurn #LoveStory #HappyEnding #MustRead
This audiobook was exactly the blend of mystery and romance I was looking for π§π. The narration was also excellent, enhancing the overall listening experience. The plot kept me guessing until the very end, and the romantic subplot was sweet and engaging. It was the perfect escape for a few evenings, and I highly recommend it. I'm already looking forward to more from this author. Highly recommend adding this one to your listening list!
