I tried to get engaged with the story, but I think the very historical atmosphere and the epistolary sections would throw me off. I was waiting for something to happen for nearly 50 percent of the book, but nothing much happened. They didn't even get into the pass until just a chapter or two before I decided to DNF. I also think I went into this book a bit too hyped from what I was told and my previous book was a bit of a let down (TLDR: wrong timing for the book + nothing seemed to be happening + too much hype that it was a good book)
