Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the ALC of Wooing the Witch Queen by Stephanie Burgis. All opinions are my own.
Wooing the Witch Queen was such a fun and easy fantasy to get into. The story was lighthearted, and the romance was very sweet. I’d recommend this book to readers that enjoy cozy fantasy stories.
I enjoyed both main characters in this story because they were likable and their conflicts with each other were easily resolved.
The other creatures in this book were also a fun addition, and I liked how the witch queen treated her household staff as family even when other people looked down on those creatures.
The audiobook narrator was great for this story. I do wish that there would’ve also been a male narrator for the archduke’s parts, but it was overall enjoyable.
The romance was slightly open door but there wasn’t much explicit content at all, so it would be easy to skip if you wanted to.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the ALC of She Doesn’t Have a Clue by Jenny Elder Moke. All opinions are my own.
I would describe She Doesn’t Have a Clue as half mystery half romance. It was a fun combination to have an interesting mystery while the main character also reconnected with the man she never thought she’d see again.
The tone of the book was lighthearted and fun, which is exactly the type of mystery I enjoy. I liked the added drama of the different guests at the wedding from jaded co-workers to family members fighting over an inheritance.
The romance was nice, and I appreciated that it didn’t take long for the characters to clear the air from their past problems. I would’ve preferred a closed-door romance, but the couple spicy scenes were easy to skip over without missing out on major plot points.
I listened to the audiobook of this and enjoyed the narrator a lot. She fit the character well and did a great job with other character voices.
Overall, I would recommend this story if you’re looking for a lighthearted and fun mystery with a bonus romance.
Thank you to PRH Audio for the ALC of Beg, Borrow, or Steal by Sarah Adams. All opinions are my own.
It’s no secret that Sarah Adams is my favorite author, so getting the opportunity to read this book early was amazing!
Beg, Borrow, or Steal is book three in the When in Rome series. It can be read as a standalone, but there are spoilers from books one and two.
This is definitely Sarah Adams’ spiciest book. She does give a warning at the beginning of the book about open door scenes, but I would say that there is dialogue throughout the book pertaining to intimate topics, so do be aware of that going into this book. Also, as far as content goes, this book does contain grief pertaining to the death of close family members. There is also an emotionally abusive relationship that takes place in a very small portion of the book.
I enjoyed this book a lot, but it definitely felt a bit different from Sarah’s other books in the content included. It did, however, still contain her humor and adorable romance moments that I’ve come to expect in her books.
Jack and Emily were such a fun couple to read about because they had great emotional depth, and they had such great banter. I loved watching them go back and forth in their conversations, and they also had a lot of scenes filled with tension.
I listened to the audiobook for this, and I loved both narrators so much! They felt like the perfect voices for these characters, and I thought they did a great job.
Overall, I would recommend this book, but just know that it’s a little different than this author’s other works.
I’m not really liking the romance and some aspects of the world. Besides the world and heist aspect, I’m not really seeing a whole lot of new things to enjoy about this story. The party scene was kind of creepy, and the romance felt too insta love to me.
