I picked up this book not realizing that it took place during Christmas, but it made for a perfect December read. Such an honest and beautifully written novella.
“…He found himself asking was there any point in being alive without helping one another? Was it possible to carry on along through all the years, the decades, through an entire life, without once being brave enough to go against what was there and yet call yourself a Christian, and face yourself in the mirror?”

This really kept me on the edge of my seat and I pretty much devoured it… but I don’t think I liked it in the end? The book has garnered a lot of talk in the few years it’s been out, which is what led me to read it. I just feel like I’m missing whatever everyone else was seeing in this book unfortunately. I really really wanted to love it. Maybe I just need to sit with it. Idk!
