I struggled to rate this book. I really enjoyed it, mostly the atmosphere and how easy it was to read, but the characters always felt a bit distant. That made me care less than I thought I would and so the impact was also not as intense as I expected it to be.

Still an incredible book!

This really didn't work for me and I really hoped it would be my kind of book. I had to DNF it at 200 pages because I was bored and not wanting to read anything. Short stories are not usually my thing but I think following 8 characters and each story not really having a conclusion really made it worse.

I think it will be a really great book for some people, just not for me.

This is a true 2 star rating - it was okay. I didn't really connect to the characters and it was way slower than I expected for a novella. There is a nice twist in the middle that kept my attention, but then it went back to slow.

Like other reviews said: maybe the marketing for this is misleading because I was also expecting more of a huxia story and only later found out the author said it wasn't supposed to be that...
