What would you sacrifice for your friends and family? OK - I'm not sure sacrifice is the right word - but - it's a question that is sticking with me one week after finishing the Pecan Man. 
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book being narrated by a white woman when the primary players in the story were African Americans - but it worked. She didn't come across as righteous, or self important.
