Slaughterhouse-Five, or the Children's Crusade by Ryan North, Kurt Vonnegut, Albert Monteys
5.0
I absolutely loved it. This is the perfect medium to translate such an unstuck work as SH5. Time jumps flow with ease & the panels work well to convey that sense of dreamlike wandering our Pilgrim does. As with any adaptation, there are things left out that I obviously wish would have still been there, but they are mainly quotes that would be hard to incorporate without having a page or two of almost straight dialogue. This is a graphic novel, we don’t do that here. I still think they did a wonderful job capturing the tone of the novel. Hopefully anyone reading this either has read the novel before or will be inclined to pick it up after, because while nothing will beat Vonnegut... this is an excellent companion. ❤️
