I was so immersed the entire time. I thought the world building was absolutely beautiful and I didn't have to struggle through any of it. I didn't find any of it boring at all. I was immersed in the world and the characters and trying to slot all the puzzle pieces together. I do feel like it's majorly setting up for the series but I loved that. The book was mostly world building and character and yea the plot could have been stronger but it didn't bother me. I loved all the creatures, I loved all the little touches like the parchment larks and using different vocabulary for things like day/night etc. I thought the story was just beautiful.
I just had such a fun time reading this and cannot wait for the next book!!!
