The Arrival by Shaun Tan
5.0
Wow. I came across this book in the Västerås Library today, on the Astrid Lindgren Award bookshelf. Without a single word, Tan heartbreakingly recites the story of an immigrant fleeing his home to find a better life for himself, and eventually his family. He encounters many barriers, some of which are familiar to me, even as a temporary expat by choice. But he also is helped and welcomed by others in his new home. This book speaks poignantly and hopefully to the current refugee crisis.
