Last Love in Constantinople: A Tarot Novel for Divination by Milorad Pavić

4.0

Paviç’s prodigal imagination is something endless. Even though the story seems not very complex (the entwine of love and hate between two families for almost three generations) every single page contains a drop or several of boundless wonder. The Tarot here is not a gimmick or vehicle for having a special sense of reading like his previous books, but is a theme present in every chapter; this is at the same time a letdown and something beautiful, because the meaning of each card is explored in each chapter, although the best way to read this particular novel is straightforward. Nonetheless, another great piece from Paviç.
