The Outsider by Stephen King
4.0
I don’t generally read horror, and the only other Steven King book I’ve read is 11/22/63. But I adored that book so much that I thought it was high time I gave another King book a try. I’ve found more and more that I can deal with scary/more gruesome things in books as opposed to movies, so I wasn’t too worried about it keeping me up at night. I did, however, text my dad and my sister when I was reading one night when my husband was out and tell them I was close to “spreading Jell-o on the floor to keep me safe from the monster” (brownie points if you get that old Cosby reference). It was chilling, absolutely engrossing, and had some excellent characters. I needed a book that would grip me and not let go, and this was it. I’ll definitely be open to reading more King. Do you have one to recommend?
