Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco
Did not finish book.
2.0
DNF
I don’t usually like to flat out moan about books because I know the authors put a lot of effort and time into writing it.
Saying that, the level of anger I reached while reading Kingdom of the Feared means that a rant is warranted.
I reread the previous two books beforehand and it really didn’t do Kerri any favours. It was so obvious that after book 1 Kerri decided to change the story for book 2 and book 3.
The characters felt like completely different people. No character should have a personality switch between the end of a book and the start of a new one. It honestly felt like a whole book was missing in the middle.
Now the plot. Yikes. Kerri clearly decided to rewrite her entire plot line from the very start of book 2 as nothing began to make sense. So many loose ends weren’t tied up and nothing was fully explained.
When something was “solved” in the book the explanations were so over the top that it was obvious that Kerri was trying to justify the changes she was making to try and make sure the reader fully understood whatever rubbish was going on.
I couldn’t even bring myself to finish book 3. The only thing keeping me going was the spice and even that felt forced and out of place.
