Plastic Monsters by Daniel J. Volpe
5.0
'Make me beautiful'
A gory, fun filled short read which will leave you wanting more. Daniel Volpe is a new author to me but his strong writing style and excellent story telling will no doubt have me reaching for more. This book had the perfect balance of body horror, social issues and complex characters. You can't help but both be horrified by and feel empathy for the main character. As a woman around this age, I could certainly relate to the themes in this book and I loved the authors gritty and thought provoking exploration of this subject. The story had some placed which were predictable but I wouldn't say this was a bad thing, seeing events unfold is worth the ride. It had me flinching, frantically turning pages and staying up way later than I should have. Thanks Daniel J Volpe for an awesome story and I look forward to checking out more.
