Book Review for Lightlark
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.25/5)
Why did no one warn me how good this book is?! Starting 2025 with a bang, Lightlark has set the bar dangerously high for the rest of my reading year.
I know this book has a reputation for dividing readers, but let me tell you: I am firmly in the “loved it” camp. I’m a sucker for a tournament aspect in my romantasy reads, so it’s no surprise this one hooked me. If there’s a competition, high stakes, and life-or-death dynamics, I’m in. But what sets Lightlark apart is that it’s not a simple “only one survivor” scenario—it’s even more emotional because someone does have to die, but you’re left guessing who it might be. The stakes feel personal, and I loved that unique twist.
The world-building was intriguing and immersive, though not overly complicated—just enough to keep you curious without needing a glossary. And oh, the slow burn! If you live for the kind of enemies-to-lovers tension where one charged interaction sustains you for five chapters until finally something else happens, this book is for you. The chemistry is palpable, the banter is sharp, and I found myself savoring every small moment between the characters.
Was this book life-changing? No. Did I love it? Absolutely. At 4.25 stars, it’s a standout read that I’ll be recommending left and right. Lightlark combines high-stakes drama, swoon-worthy romance, and an emotional edge that kept me flipping pages late into the night. I can’t believe it took me this long to pick it up, but now I’m fully invested in seeing where this series goes.
If you love tournament tropes, unique worlds, and tension-filled romance, don’t sleep on this one!
