Spiritual Conversations with Children: Listening to God Together by Lacy Finn Borgo
hopeful
informative
inspiring
medium-paced
3.75
The chapters were quite repetitive, almost as if they had originally been separate essays (though I don't think that's the case here) but really inspiring ways of thinking about how to work with children in a way that empowers them.
I recently joined a youth committee at my church and this came as a recommended read. The author clearly has a lot of experience working with kids and trying to understand them, and has lots of suggestions for different activities and methods to engage them in conversation as well as to provide silent support. The key here is on empowering children, to be good listeners rather than impose our thoughts and ways of being on them.
