This is a re-read for me as I wanted to remember more of the story before I watched the show. What struck me was how many different levels there are to approaching this story and how much it can be just a rip snortin' adventure of a story. The second and third books in the series definitely went much deeper and took that element out a bit. I highly recommend the full-cast audio recording.
