I had seen this one many times in the library as a kid but never read it, and reading now wondered why, until I got to the ending--when I was little I had a habit of checking the end of a book to make sure the MC didn't get married and wouldn't read it if she did. Even as an adult reader this one seemed to start off fun, lose its way halfway through, and not really stick the landing.
