Perhaps would've enjoyed it more as a physical copy than audiobook but lots of important messages here about anxiety and addiction.
The adult narrator reading in a kid’s voice wasn’t jibing with me. Also, I’ve noticed many of the audiobooks I listen to don’t include the author’s acknowledgements and that’s my favourite part!
I think this would be an important read for a lot of folks though. The MC deals with undiagnosed anxiety and it felt very reminiscent of my experience in elementary school. On top of that, her brother is in rehab and struggling with addiction, and the book looks at the ways this impacts each family member.
I felt these topics were handled well and felt real, and I enjoyed the mystery though I was very much in her parents’ position worried about her going out into the woods alone at night! An interesting enough story but not a favourite.
