2.5
Snow Crash was recommended by a friend, and I see that it is listed by many as a must-read, but I did not enjoy it, nor did I find it to be well-written.
I thought it tried to cram far too much into one book, and tried to wow us with a ridiculous view of the future.
I did enjoy the look into the metaverse, apparently a very early prediction of the possibilities being explored today. But the real-world components were bizarre and inconsistent. And there were HUGE tracts of expository dialogue that just went on and on.
I also had a problem with one of the characters - a fifteen year-old girl - being portrayed in a very sexual way, at first implying distaste at older men ogling her, but then embracing it later on.
