How My Neighbor Stole Christmas by Meghan Quinn
5.0
WOW. I have read a few Meghan Quinn books and they've just been so so for me. One of my besties assured me that she's incredible and so I decided to give this one a go. I am SO GLAD I did. This was so funny and so engaging that I legit couldn't wait to pick it back up and keep reading.
In his quaint little Colorado hometown that honors Christmas all year long, Cole Black is something like the Grinch. He stays away from it all as much as he can, especially when it's Christmas season. Ever since his parents passed away suddenly when he was 18, he has been living in his past day in and day out. Until Storee comes back to town to take care of her aunt, Cindy, who happens to be Cole's neighbor. Seeing her again has roused some old bitter emotions from the last time, ten years ago, when Storee abruptly left, the night he learned about his parents. Now he's out to ensure she does not win the town's holiday competition, but with all their rivalry and conniving, tensions run high and the town wants nothing more than to see them together. What turns out as fake dating turns into something very real, but it only takes one night for Christmas to be stolen after all.

This was so cleverly done I had to stop a few times and make sure I was picking up on all the correlations to the original Grinch. Obviously there's Cole (Coal in my mind), Martha, Mae and Cindy LOUis. Even Cole's best friend went by Max. The plays on the Grinch rhyming too were hilarious. And the the tension and heat and genuine connection between the characters was just fabulous. I loved this SO MUCH.
