Plot: this novel follows Casey at at lowest point, mourning her beloved Mum, recovering from a dizzying affair, facing writers block and crippling debt. Then she meets Silas and Oscar, who offer two very different relationshipsz that promise two very different futures. And she's still got to finish her novel....

Review: this was my first Lily King novel and I absolutely devoured it. It was full of hard truths, almost a coming of age type novel following someone in their early 30s. I was so invested in Casey and her well-being, I couldn't put it down.
It felt SO realistic, tense and stressful. Lily King wrote the most realistic portrayal of working in hospitality that I have ever read.

I love the way that as a reader you were trying to figure out the real nature of Silas and Oscar along with Casey. Love triangles can often be cliched yeah Lily King pulled it off, I switched allegiances and rooted for Casey throughout.

Despite it's agonising themes there was wit, hope and kindness throughout. Little glimpses of generosity that became a lifeline to Casey. I loved it so much.
The pace of the novel reflected the stresses, exhaustion and monotony of Casey's life, it was so authentic.

“It’s a particular kind of pleasure, loving a book with someone.”

2022 is the year I've fallen in love with romance fiction ❤❤ I will definitely be reading more of Lily Kings work
