I often go into books blind or nearly blind. I knew this book was going to be about pregnant women, and them being "farmed" in some way. (Just using context clues from the title and book cover) I thought it would be something like Meat by Joseph D'Lacey. But it wasn't, and at first i thought I was disappointed it wasn't a gore story, but my opinion changed. I thought about how the women are exploited to be used as surrogates, mostly due to the need for money. This was a sad tale and the authors note at the end had me feeling extra sad.
