Don't go into this thinking it's a quick and cozy holiday read. It's actually quite heartbreaking and I really appreciated the author's note as I had no heard about the Magdalen laundries prior to reading this. I think it is quite a meaningful read in a short number of pages (it's more a novella) but I wish it was a fuller length novel so it could have been a bit more developed. I guess it at least left me wanting more!
