I enjoyed the world-building a lot! I was interested in learning about Sage's world, and this book lays a solid foundation for understanding how this particular world balances the supernatural and the mundane. The two MCs have great chemistry, and Sage's best friend and his grandmother are wonderful minor characters. And who wouldn't love Fluke??

The main complaint I have is the cliffhanger ending. I don't mind when authors set up events for the next book to continue the bigger story arc, but I'm not fond of literal cliffhangers. In this case, the book stopped right before a new conversation/confrontation, which made the ending seem too abrupt. Plus I don't love the "Want to know how this conversation goes? Gotta buy the next book!" vibe that such endings give.
