From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

It's true what all the positive reviews say: this is the ideal fantasy novel beach read. It's light and flirty and fun. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of danger and drama between the characters, but the whole story was easy to enjoy. The plot is easy to follow, the characters make use of the best YA tropes, and the cliffhanger is ASTOUNDING. Like, thank goodness I can get the next book relatively quickly! That ending was so perfect that I left with no doubt that I would read the sequel. I didn't love this novel, it's definitely not the best book ever written but what it is is an entertaining adventure full of tense romance. Really this is the ideal read for us recovering [b:A Court of Thorns and Roses|16096824|A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)|Sarah J.
